It is the first South Indian movie to achieve these mad numbers in NA. In India, on day 16, Kalki 2898 AD continued to rule despite competition from new releases. Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 has hit the theatres and Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira too released on July 12. But even then Kalki 2898 AD got major footfalls. As per a report in Sacnilk.com, Kalki 2898 AD made around Rs 5.4 crore at box office in India. Now, the total collection of the film is Rs 548.75 crore. It has turned out to be the highest grossing film of the year so far. It has also broken many major records made by big films like Pathaan and more.

Now, fans are excited for the second instalment of Kalki 2898 AD. Nag Ashwin in a recent interview shared that only 25-30 percent of the shoot for the part 2 is complete. Major scenes are yet to be shot. Thus there is a long wait. Amitabh Bachchan plays Ashwathama in the film, Kamal Haasan is the dreaded Yaskin. The story has its base in Mahabharata.
